Banks High School National Honor Society Students work at build site

On Saturday April 22, 2017, 7 students from the Banks High School National Honor Society spent the morning volunteering at the West Tuality Habitat for Humanity Home building site located at 1529 22nd Place in Forest Grove. The students perform this type of community service as part of their National Honor Society community service requirements.

The students helped our normal volunteer build crew in the various building process’s required to construct these homes. They used string trimmers to cut down tall grass, they filled wheelbarrows to move rock around the foundation of the house, and they assisted in moving materials for decking the house sub floor.  Their contribution of 32 hours of labor greatly helped the build crew stay focused on the technical aspects of the home’s construction.

The students who participated in this volunteer project are Mary Schorn, Samuel Martinez, Keegan Wise, Ellie Nieland, Trevor Thiessen, Emma McCourt and Alli VanLoo.dsc_0408

Annual Gala “Under Construction”

Our annual Gala is coming up!

Come join us for our West Tuality Habitat for Humanity Gala and Auction on February 4th, 2017, at the Forest Grove Senior and Community Center! This year’s event will be a casual “Jeans and Hardhats” event with the theme “Under Construction”. Dinner will be small plates in a casual setting and includes beer and wine from local breweries and wineries. We will have our oral auction and “Fund-An-Item” and there will be a raffle this year instead of a silent auction. We are hoping to raise $57,000 to fund the building package for the construction of our next home.

To help ease the burden to our local small business who so generously have donated we are reaching out to our loyal supporters to help with the expense of the oral auction items. We are creating “Experiences” for families, couples, art enthusiasts and sports fans. The auction items in the Experiences that are proposed are: Dinner & Drinks at 21 Forest Grove Establishments, Family Outings (Metro Zoo, OMSI, Movies, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Oakes Amusement Park), Adult Excursions (Wine Country Weekends, Golf Packages, Sporting Events, Staycation Weekends), Private Artist Studio Tours and many more great “Experiences”. We would appreciate receiving your contributions by January 10, 2017, so that we may purchase these items in advance of the Gala. You can send contributions to us or donate on line at the following link: www.wthfh.cf/tickets.

Tickets for the Gala are $50 and may be purchased online at www.wthfh.cf/tickets or in person at the Habitat Restore, 3731 Pacific Avenue, Forest Grove. Ticket sales begin January 3, 2017.

Kindest Regards,
West Tuality Habitat for Humanity
