West Tuality Habitat for Humanity joins international Homes, Communities, Hope + You campaign to help Forest Grove build back from COVID-19

Forest Grove, May, 12, 2020 – As the world continues to grapple with the public health crisis and the economic impact of COVID-19, the importance of a place to call home has never been more pronounced.

Since 1991, West Tuality Habitat has supported families in the greater Forest Grove area through many adversities. Now, in these very challenging times, West Tuality Habitat stands ready once again to offer a hand up to families in need of safe, decent and affordable homes. Through the Homes, Communities, Hope + You campaign, the organization will raise funds to support more families who need access to the opportunities that an affordable home provides.

In order to comply with state guidelines, the ReStore has been closed since mid March. The Habitat ReStore is the main source of income for the affiliate in their mission to provide stability and self-reliance through shelter. Without the ReStore bringing in income and events and projects cancelled, like most of the world in the wake of the pandemic, the efforts of West Tuality Habitat have been stalled. The pandemic has highlighted the national and local necessity of a safe and affordable home. Now more than ever, home is the key.

Almost four hundred dollars were raised on Giving Tuesday Now, a global day of giving to support the essential work of nonprofits. The money will go straight to building new homes for qualifying families in the community as well as doing critical repairs for veteran, disabled, elderly and low income persons. In order to build back, more funds and support are needed.

The Homes, Communities, Hope + You campaign is a unique opportunity for Habitat organizations all around the world to unite as a global network to galvanize communities and emerge from this crisis stronger together. The campaign will feature Habitat doing what it does best: building security and stability, building back the economy, reconnecting communities, and creating hope.

“Habitat for Humanity is needed now more than ever,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “The world was already experiencing a housing crisis long before COVID-19. The pandemic has only made our work more urgent. Our neighbors need our help to build back, and we need your support as we work toward a world where everyone has a safe, decent and affordable place to live.”

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is part of a global community that believes that everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live. Together we will raise funds, spread the word, and show support to build back.
