West Tuality Habitat for Humanity to receive $147,000 for 2022 Repair Program

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce the awarding of a new grant in the amount of $147,000 for their 2022 repair program. As one of three nonprofit organizations to receive funding from the City of Forest Grove, Oregon, through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the grant will be used to serve homeowners inside the city limits. Previously, the West Tuality Habitat for Humanity repair program has provided small and medium-sized home repair services such as yard work, exterior painting, access ramps, and grab bar installation. They have also utilized collaborations with other organizations to accomplish major critical repairs that may be out of reach for any individual agency.

Now in their 31st year of operation, West Tuality Habitat for Humanity, a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is an established organization with a long history of homebuilding and home repairs in western Washington County, Oregon. Repair Program Coordinator Laura Altermatt, a certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, comments "Our team is excited to announce the ARPA grant awarded to us by the City of Forest Grove, which we will use to complete home repairs for low-income, senior and disabled homeowners. Critical repairs, weatherization, and addressing safety issues increases homeowners’ ability to age in place while maintaining their most important asset, their home. We look forward to welcoming new people into our program."

The repair program provides services in both English and Spanish, with the West Tuality Habitat for Humanity website, including repair applications, available in both languages. To homeowners in the City of Forest Grove who previously applied to the repair program and have been unsuccessful, Altermatt says, “Please apply again!”

Additional details and applications for the repair program can be found at https://www.westtualityhabitat.org/repair-program. Questions can be sent to projects@westtualityhabitat.org, or contact them at 503-359-8459.
