Join West Tuality Habitat for Humanity at the ReStore Renovation Celebration, February 12, 2022
As a culmination of more than six years of effort, the West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce the completion of the ReStore Renovation project. The Forest Grove ReStore, a second hand store selling gently used furniture, home goods, building materials and more, is located at 3731 Pacific Ave. in Forest Grove. In 2010, what used to be a car dealership became a commercial resale store supporting the goals and mission of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity.
Launched in 2016, the ReStore capital campaign had three objectives: to reduce monthly costs of the facility, increase comfort and safety for staff, shoppers and volunteers, and improve the layout to promote efficient and smooth operations. With the campaign and resulting renovations complete, the building now has a heated warehouse, spacious passages for merchandise movement and shopper comfort, a covered drive-through donation intake, improved safety for all, and increased energy efficiency.
West Tuality Habitat for Humanity has deep appreciation for the many donors, large and small, who helped make this work possible, including: M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, The Vance Foundation, H.J. and Grace Sandberg Fund, The Swigert Foundation, Robert D. and Marcia H. Randall Charitable Trust, Charis Fund, City of Forest Grove, All Crop Inc., Parr Lumber.
With the completion of this project, they are pleased to invite the public to join them in celebrating the new and improved facility. Saturday, February 12th, from 10 am to 3 pm, there will be celebratory sales and activities in the store, along with guided tours and door prizes. All covid-safety protocols will be observed. “Although this has been a long and complicated project, I am extremely happy with and excited for these wonderful results. I can't give enough thanks to our donors and supporters, our incredible staff and volunteers, and the wonderful community that has supported us through everything,” says Virginia Ohler, Executive Director of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity.
The result of this project, including cost savings and increased potential for revenue, have shown numerous benefits. Virginia Ohler adds, “The fruit of this labor will be harvested for years to come and will benefit our community in oh so many ways!" This includes establishing ReStore recycling partnerships, with Metro Paint Program and Oregon e-cycles, and increased capacity for processing used items, saving a million pounds of material from entering the waste stream each year. Additionally, West Tuality Habitat for Humanity has been able to expand their homeowner services as well as their regular home construction and repair programs, the bedrocks of their mission.
Join them on February 12th to celebrate this great success. Additional details can be found in their Facebook Event page, https://fb.me/e/485U3nVs1.
