West Tuality Habitat for Humanity Partners with North Plains Police Dept. for an A Brush with Kindness Project

North Plains (Aug. 28, 2019) – West Tuality Habitat for Humanity was out in North Plains the morning of August 28. Joined by Chief Jesse Baker and Chief Jim Wheaton,  a  small team of repair volunteers worked on a fence repair for a resident of the community. Over the past three months, West Tuality Habitat’s Projects Coordinator, Laura Altermatt, has been working closely with Chief Baker and the North Plains Police Department to coordinate with the homeowner and her neighbors so the repair could be done. West Tuality Habitat is excited to be working in North Plains and building a strong relationship with the community as they prepare for the upcoming North Plains Repair Blitz on September 28th, 2019.

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity seeks to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Their shared vision with Habitat for Humanity International is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. They work in western Washington County with low-income individuals and families, people with disabilities, veterans, and seniors through the affordable homeownership and home preservation programs.

A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) projects—like the one completed today—are a part of West Tuality Habitat’s Home Preservation Program. Through the Home Preservation Program, West Tuality Habitat provides assistance to individuals and families in western Washington County communities who own their homes. Critical Repairs include building accessibility ramps, installing grab bars, remodeling, repairing roofs and gutters, and more. ABWK projects include exterior home painting, yard work, and fence repairs.
